Aplus.net (web hosting): is our current hosting provider (need we say more?). Our experience with them has been excellent. We use the "Unix Solo XR" plan. If you wish to support us, please mention our affiliate ID of 1002630 when signing up.

Apple (laptop, desktop): Looking for a laptop or desktop? I recommend the Apple MacBook PRO and Mac Mini computers for novices and experts alike.

.MAC (web hosting, contact and calendar sync): As much as I like most things Apple, unfortunately I have to say the .Mac service is quite poor. It does syncronize data between macs as advertised, but the overall package is expensive considering that all the other features can be provided better and cheaper by other providers. The support is extremely poor (for most issues - there does not seem to be a way to contact them at all). The backup application that comes bundled with this service is unreliable to the point where I have lost data because of it.

Palm Treo 650 (smartphone) : I love the idea too - and wish the product worked as advertised. Unfortuantely, it is buggy to the core. We have tested 3 units with the Cingular cellular network. None of them were able to make it even one day of continous use without freezing or crashing, often more than once. Also, there is no official support for SD cards over 2GB.

CompuStar 2WSS-AS (car alarm): This product should also still be in the experimental stage. It works only occasionally, randomly. Often the result is you having to push buttons multiples times (locking yourself out in the cold or rain in the meantime while you monkey with it). The remote and brain even slowly de-synchronize and it gets worse over time! After a while you need to unplug and reprogram it from scratch to get it to work at all. The company has ok support, and does seem to honor the parts part of the warranty - if you can find a dealer willing to hold up his end of the bargain and keep spending his/her labor replacing these (I couldn't). After a while the company offered to replace this unit with a 2W900FM-AS model instead. This model does work much better, but the range is nowhere near what is claimed (on either model) and I ended up paying for the more expensive model and getting a lot of frustration for it. In fact, even the 2W900FM-AS remote is a bit unreliable, only in a different way - it sometimes (once a month or so) gives completely false alarms (often my car is nowhere near being within range whtn this happens).

Carnetix (12V DC power supply/regulator): This product, intended to allow you to to easily power a car-PC, does it job well in my application. My only gripe is that when used with a mac mini, there is currently no way to shut the machine down.
